GitHub conversations, without the noise

Jotpod opens a private pod for any GitHub issue. Connect your repository once, and your collaborators can talk it through in real time, verified by GitHub.

Most project discussions start on GitHub. A bug report, a pull request, a question from a new contributor. But issue threads are slow, and moving the discussion to a chat tool means inviting people, managing accounts and losing the link to the issue.

So the context scatters. Half the decision is in a comment thread, the other half in a channel nobody can find later, and nobody is sure who should have been in the pod.

Issue threads aren't for conversations

Comments are great for a record, not for working something out together. Every reply notifies everyone, back-and-forth buries the useful parts, and private details don't belong on a public issue.

Try it: switch pods in the sidebar and open a thread.

Jotpod is a pod for every issue

Connect your repository and open a pod for any issue. Share its link with collaborators: they continue with GitHub, Jotpod confirms they have access to the repository, and they're in. The room stays tied to its repository and issue, and goes read-only when the issue closes.

What we focus on

Jotpod does one thing: gives each GitHub issue a private pod where the right people can talk it through, and keeps everyone else out.

  • One issue, one pod

    No duplicate threads to chase.

  • Join in seconds

Sign in with GitHub. No new password.

  • Access follows GitHub

    Only repository collaborators get in.

What we're not building

Jotpod isn't a project-management tool or a Slack replacement. There are no boards, sprints or org charts; it's a place to talk about one issue with the people who can actually work on it.

It doesn't ask for more than it needs either: read access to repository metadata and issues, write access only to post the link. No code access, no email address, no ads and no profiling.

Who it's for

Open-source maintainers who want to talk through an issue with contributors without opening a public free-for-all, and teams with private repositories who want the discussion next to the work.

And for everything else, quick pods are still here: throwaway chats that delete themselves after 24 hours, 36 hours or 6 days.

Getting started

  • Connect GitHub and connect the repositories you want to use with Jotpod.
  • Open a pod for an issue. Its link is added to the issue for you.
  • Share the link. Collaborators sign in with GitHub and they're in; everyone else is told why not.
